Anderson Will Be Shown ‘No Mercy’ On Nov. 5

Manhoef vs. Anderson | Bellator MMA

Bellator 251 “Manhoef vs. Anderson” comes to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. on Thurs., Nov. 5, 2020. It may be fairly evident what this card entails from the title of the event, but let’s break it down anyway.

Corey Anderson (13-5) left UFC ranked No. 4 in the Top 15 at Light Heavyweight. The last opponent to defeat him, Jan Blachowicz (27-8) is currently the UFC’s 205-pound champion. It’s hard to shame “Overtime” for the loss considering that fact, nor given that he had four top tier wins over the likes of Glover Teixeira and Ilir Latifi before his departure.

After Anderson made the jump to Bellator in August, the only questions left to answer were “who, when, and where.” All of those have now been revealed in one fell swoop, and Melvin Manhoef (32-14-1, 2 NC) is the man to meet him in Uncasville. The 44 year-old MMA and kickboxing legend had back-to-back wins in 2019 against Kent Kauppinen and Yannick Bahati, proving that as ever for the Dutch fighter, age is just a number.

Without question though the 31 years young Anderson will be the toughest test Manhoef has had since his two middleweight world title shots in 2016 and 2017. Will he show “No Mercy” to Anderson in his promotional debut, or will the young lion show the old veteran a few new tricks? Tune in to CBS Sports Network live on Nov. 5 to find out. No other bouts have been announced at this early date.
