Ode Osbourne, Jerome Rivera set to face off at UFC’s Jan. 30 event

Two former Contender Series prospects will go head to head in the octagon on Jan. 30, 2021 as they chase their maiden UFC win at the second time of asking.

After picking up victories on Dana White’s Contender Series, Ode Osbourne and Jerome Rivera both suffered defeats on their respective UFC debuts. But now they have been matched together for the UFC’s upcoming event on Saturday, Jan. 30. MMA Junkie confirmed the matchup with people with knowledge of the situation following an initial report by MMA Fighting. The event’s location has not yet been confirmed.

Osbourne (8-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will move down to flyweight for the matchup after previously competing at featherweight and bantamweight. He lost out to Brian Kelleher via first-round guillotine choke at UFC 246 back in January and will be looking to bounce back against Rivera (10-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who lost via TKO to Tyson Nam at UFC on ESPN+ 36 in September.

The event does not yet have a confirmed headliner, but will feature a women’s flyweight bout between Brazilian contender Viviane Araujo (9-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and America’s Roxanne Modafferi (25-17 MMA, 4-4 UFC).

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night card for Jan. 30 includes:

  • Viviane Araujo vs. Roxanne Modafferi
  • Vinicius Moreira vs. Ike Villanueva
  • Ode Osbourne vs. Jerome Rivera
