Mir, Nelson No Longer With Bellator MMA

Bellator 250 “Lima vs. Mousasi” takes place Thur., Oct. 29, 2020 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The main card airs at 8 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network, headlined by Douglas Lima (32-7) vs. Gegard Mousasi (46-7-2) for the vacant middleweight title that Mousasi once held.

Meanwhile, two men who previously headlined Bellator 231 in the exact same venue have just parted ways with the promotion. MMA journalist Jason Floyd confirmed that dozens of Bellator MMA fighters have either been cut, quietly retired, or fought out their contracts, the biggest of which (literally) are Frank Mir (19-13) and “Big Country” Roy Nelson (23-19).

Other notable names include former bantamweight and featherweight champion Joe Warren (15-8), multi-time featherweight champ Pat Curran (23-9), former middleweight champion Rafael Lovato Jr. (10-0), and as expected after he laid his gloves down in the cage, former top contender Jon Fitch (32-8-2, 1 NC).

Other names mentioned as done either due to release or retirement: Rafael Carvalho, Joe Schilling, AJ Agazarm, Adel Altamimi, Ricky Bandejas, Adel Benjilany, Shawn Bunch, Derek Campos, Daniel Crawford, Haim Gozali, Richard Kiely, Mike Kimbel, Jeremiah Labiano, Cris Lencioni, Salim Mukhidinov, Mihail Nica, Hatice Ozyurt, Ion Pascu, Mateusz Piskorz, Rudy Schaffroth, Tuco Tokkos, Manny Vazquez, Kristina Williams and Vinicius Zani.
