You knew it was coming.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, has responded to the promotion’s media’s decision to grant Khabib Nurmagomedov his wish of giving him the No. 1 spot on its pound-for-pound list.

Indeed, “The Eagle” made the request after he submitted Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 254 last Saturday (Oct. 24, 2020) on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (see it again here). Over the next two days, Jones would hit social media to make his case as to why it would be ludicrous to believe that “The Eagle” is the greatest fighter of all time over himself.

But earlier today, the mixed martial arts (MMA) media — not UFC — voted to put Khabib at the top of the pound-for-pound list, which Jones had possession of for quite some time. And “Bones” wasn’t feeling it one bit, once again taking aim at the former 155-pound champion’s level of competition.

“Unanimous decision over last minute replacement Al Iaquinta to become champion Conor McGregor is the only opponent he’s ever had that the general public actually knew,” wrote Jones on Twitter. “Catapulted my man to becoming the best ever, this is hilarious.”

One can understand Jon’s frustrations, but at the end of the day Khabib likely won’t keep that position for too long since he’s retired, which means “Bones” will be right back at No. 1 in no time.

In the meantime, the former 205-pound kingpin will look to further add to his legacy and ever-impressive resume as he prepares to make his move up to the Heavyweight division in 2021.
