We are less than one month away from the next Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pay-per-view (PPV) event, as UFC 255 is set to go down on Nov. 21 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The main event will see newly-crowned UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo defend his 125-pound title against streaking contender Alex Perez.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt was expected to drop down in weight to challenge Figueiredo, but “No Love” was forced to withdraw due to COVID-19.

While UFC was contemplating the removal of the men’s flyweight division all together things have changed for the better over the past year. After former champion Henry Cejudo vacated his title it left Figueiredo to challenge veteran Joseph Benavidez for the vacant strap. Figueiredo had to beat Benavidez twice after failing to make championship weight in their first fight but eventually got it done in the rematch.

Now Figueiredo will try to create his own legacy at 125 pounds by defending his title and keeping the weight class afloat. Standing in his way will be Perez, who has been one of the most underrated members of the division since his arrival back in 2017. Perez holds a UFC record of 6-1, losing only to Benavidez via TKO nearly two years ago.

In addition to the men’s flyweight headliner, reigning UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko will defend her title against Jennifer Maia in the co-main event. Shevchenko is looking to win her fourth-straight title defense in just the past two years, proving once again that she is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today.
