Biggest Winners, Loser For UFC Vegas 12

UFC Vegas 12 went down last night (Sat., Oct. 31, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event of the evening, Uriah Hall scored one of the biggest wins of his career by knocking out Anderson Silva in the fourth round (see it again here). In the co-main event of the evening, Bryce Mitchell picked up perhaps the biggest win of his career by defeating Andre Fili via unanimous decision (recap)

Biggest Winner: Uriah Hall

Hall picked up a huge win over one of his favorite fighters of all time in defeating “Spider.” Granted, Silva may have lost a step or three over the years, but it is still a good notch to have on your resume. That is now three straight wins for “Prime Time,” who is slowly but steadily climbing up the 185-pound ladder. He will definitely move up a spot or two in the rankings, and if he can string together a few more impressive wins, he could find himself in line for a title shot. Afterward, Hall and Silva shared a beautiful moment in the center of the cage, as “Prime Time” was overcome with emotion after knocking out one of his idols.

Runner Up: Bryce Mitchell

Don’t look now, but “Thug Nasty” is starting to make some headway in the Featherweight division, as the camo-short wearing combatant scored his fifth straight win inside the Octagon, fourteenth overall to remain undefeated. This was the biggest of his career, which was only emphasized by the fact that he became only the second fighter in UFC history to have a custom-made pair of shorts courtesy of Reebok, the other being Conor McGregor. An added bonus indeed for Mitchell, who is quickly becoming a rising star in the 145-pound weight class.

Biggest Loser: Anderson Silva

If this truly was Silva’s last fight in mixed martial arts (MMA), he didn’t get the fairy-tale ending he was hoping for after getting stopped by Hall in the fourth round of their five-round main event. Silva looked good for the first three rounds before getting dropped in the final seconds of the third frame. The final blow came in the fourth frame after Silva rushed in somewhat lazily, which allowed Hall to connect with a shot that dropped him. Silva ends his UFC career having lost seven of his last nine fights inside the Octagon, with his last win coming against Derek Brunson back in 2017. That being said, Silva does have one more fight remaining on his UFC deal, which means he will have to fulfill that or convince UFC to let him walk if he wants to fight for another promotion. For now, Silva will go back home and regroup for a while before he makes his final decision.
