Mitchell Decisions Fili

Andre Fili and Bryce Mitchell faced off in a Featherweight bout tonight (Sat., Oct. 31, 2020) at UFC Vegas 12 from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following a competitive fight, Mitchell was named the victor.

Mitchell landed an early low kick. Mitchell attempted a takedown and forced a scramble, eventually downing his opponent near the fence. Fili nearly bounced back up, but Mitchell dragged him back down. Fili exploded back to his feet, but again Mitchell tripped his foe down quickly. Mitchell advanced into mount. Fili nearly reversed, but Mitchell managed to maintain top position. Fili recovered guard, but Mitchell hoped back over into mount. Fili spun into top position with about a minute remaining, then he let his opponent back up. Fili landed a good knee, but Mitchell converted it into a takedown. Mitchell finished the round in guard.

Mitchell scored early with a cross and side kick. Fili stuffed a shot. Mitchell landed a low kick and overhand. Fili scored with a long jab. Jump knee connected for Fili! Mitchell backed off, and Fili came forward with some good power shots. Southpaw cross scored clean for Fili, but Mitchell got in on the hips with a takedown attempt. Fili stuffed the shot and returned to the center. Another clean left scored for Fili, and he’s walking Mitchell down. One more shot from Mitchell, and the two hit the fence again. This time, Mitchell finished with a trip and settled in half guard. Fili exploded to his feet with short timing remaining, and he capitalized with a big kick and by finishing the round in top position.

Mitchell landed first with a hook, but Fili fired back a combination. Mitchell scored a double leg in the center of the Octagon. Fili sprung back up but was dumped to the floor again. Fili reversed into top position! They’re back on their feet, but not for long, as Mitchell forced another double leg takedown. Mitchell advanced into mount, but Fili recovered guard. Mitchell didn’t land much significant, but he racked up a lot of control time. He finishes the fight on top.

Mitchell performed really well against a tough veteran here. He was forced to gut through some tough situations, but he nevertheless managed to implement his wrestling to pick up the win.

Result: Bryce Mitchell defeats Andre Fili via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)
