McGregor Interested Holloway, Ready For Diaz

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who also held gold at 145 pounds, is also no stranger to the welterweight division, though we should expect “Notorious” to stay put for the foreseeable future.

“I will commit to the 155-pound division for 2021,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Some great matchups to be had here, as well as unfinished business. I will show the world once again who I am, and what I’m about. Trust that!”

The power-punching Irishman will make his lightweight return against former featherweight foe and top-ranked 155-pound contender Dustin Poirier at some point in early 2021, though a date and venue have yet to be revealed.

After that? Sounds like more rematches are afoot.

“For sure I would be interested in running it back with Max (Holloway),” he continued.

McGregor holds a 2013 decision win over Holloway followed by a 2014 technical knockout victory over Poirier, but fans have been most vocal about his loss (and subsequent win) against Nate Diaz.

“Excellent fighter,” McGregor said about Diaz. “The trilogy will be of epic proportions when it goes down. Nathan, and his fighting styles, are never far from my thoughts throughout my own practices. When it happens, I’m ready.”

McGregor also called Diaz the toughest fighter he’s ever faced.

Sadly, “Notorious” has only competed twice over the last four years, spending most of his fighting prime being rich and arrogant, which I guess is every fighter’s dream when they embark on a career in UFC so it’s hard to hold that against him.

Just hard not to imagine what McGregor could have done as an active, full-time fighter.
