Glover Teixeira continued to defy the odds and the normal circle of life in combat sports with a huge main event win over Thiago Santos on Saturday at UFC on ESPN+ 40.
Teixeira (32-7 MMA, 15-5 UFC) once again thrived as an underdog, going to war with Santos (21-9 MMA, 13-7 UFC) before securing a third-round submission to end the light heavyweight headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
At 41, Teixeira has now won five consecutive fights. He’s been trying to get another UFC title opportunity after he faltered in his first chance in April 2014, and there’s no doubt he’s earned the chance.
