Heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury is unlikely to step foot inside of the Octagon anytime soon, but it’s still fun to imagine “Gypsy King” testing his striking skills against the UFC’s best.

Fury, who defeated Deontay Wilder in a rematch back in February to claim the WBC heavyweight title, has already told UFC president Dana White that he’d be interested in a crossover fight in the future. Fury even had plans in place to train with McGregor in order to get ready for a potential MMA debut.

Fury still has a lot of work left to do in boxing’s dangerous heavyweight division, which includes a trilogy bout with Wilder and a potential clash with fellow English champion Anthony Joshua, but “Gypsy King” continues to hint at the idea of competing inside of the famed Octagon.

Earlier this week, Fury shared a video of the below training session, in which he traded in his boxing mitts for much smaller MMA gloves and went to work. The video is short, but the shots were landing straight. Fury looked good, but more importantly he looked comfortable moving around and finding a home with smaller fists.

“Nice 6 rounds in my @ufc gloves,” wrote Fury via Twitter.

If Fury ever did make a transition to the cage it would be interesting to say the least. Obviously, the champion boxer’s ground game is less than desirable, but his size, unorthodox movement, and world-class precision on the feet would create problems for any heavyweight in the UFC today.

For now, Fury will ready himself for his return to the squared circled (whenever that may be). “Gypsy King” was expected to fight Wilder in their trilogy bout at the end of 2020 until the sweeping COVID-19 pandemic ended that.
