CANCELED!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has canceled its heavyweight main event for the upcoming UFC Vegas 15 mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card, scheduled for this Sat. night (Nov. 28, 2020) inside APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to ESPN.

That’s because No. 2-ranked contender Curtis Blaydes has tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw from his 265-pound showdown opposite Derrick Lewis, pushing the light heavyweight clash between Anthony Smith and Devin Clark into the ESPN+ headliner.

The promotion has yet to make an official announcement; however, early reports indicate that Blaydes will be rebooked to fight Lewis at some point in December, once “Razor” and his cornermen are able to test negative.

No question this will be a disappointing setback for both combatants, though it may also be an unexpected benefit for fans who were on the fence about ordering the Mike Tyson pay-per-view (PPV), which also runs tomorrow evening during the UFC Vegas 15 time slot.
