Over the weekend, it was announced that Floyd Mayweather would come out of retirement to take on YouTube sensation-turned boxer, Logan Paul, on Feb. 20, 2021 in what is being dubbed a “super exhibition” bout.

Yes, really.

Naturally, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White was asked about the news and to give his opinion on where the sport of boxing is at the moment. For White, bookings such as Mayweather vs Paul is all you need to know as far as where boxing stands at the moment.

“When people ask me, ‘What’s the state of boxing right now?’ That’s where it’s at,” White said in an interview with the Nelk Boys (via MMA Junkie). “Didn’t that kid get beat up by the (expletive) video game kid from England, and now he’s going to fight Floyd Mayweather?”

Logan and his younger brother, Jake Paul, transitioned into the boxing world a couple of years back and have taken the sport by storm, for better or worse. Jake knocked out former NBA player, Nate Robinson, at the recent Tyson vs. Jones boxing event a little over a week ago.

Logan meanwhile, made his “professional” debut against fellow YouTube sensation, KSI, last November, losing via unanimous decision.

Of course, White does have plans to move into the boxing business himself with ZUFFA Boxing, but that venture still hasn’t taken off. Whether or not he follows through, don’t expect him and his partners to book “super exhibition” bouts such as this one.

Or “old guy stuff” such as this.
