Angela Hill was recently forced out of her scheduled fight against Tecia Torres — which was set to go down at UFC 256 this Saturday night (Dec. 12, 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada — after testing positive or COVID-19. It was one of three fights removed from the ESPN+-streamed pay-per-view (PPV) event as a result of coronavirus.

Despite only having five days to find a late replacement, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) matchmakers came through, as MMA Fighting reports that former Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) standout, Sam Hughes, has agreed to step in and fill the void.

Hughes — who is 5-1 thus far in her mixed martial arts (MMA) career — is coming off a win over Danielle Hindley last October. “Sampage” has only been fighting professionally since 2019 and has four finishes to her credit.

Torres, meanwhile, recently got back on track with win over Brianna Van Buren at UFC Vegas 3 this past June, snapping her four-fight losing streak in the process. Now, “Tiny Tornado” will look to score back-to-back wins for the first time since 2017.

UFC 256 features a Flyweight title fight as division champion, Deiveson Figueiredo, will defend his belt against Brandon Moreno, while Tony Ferguson and Charles Oliveira collide in the co-main event.
