Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently parted ways with former middleweight title contender Yoel Romero, and while he may not be a hot commodity for stateside mixed martial arts (MMA) promotions, there are surely a number of international outfits willing to do business with “Soldier of God.”

Chief among them is ONE Championship in Singapore, no stranger to signing former UFC middleweight title contenders. In fact, recent acquisition Vitor Belfort is still waiting to make his in-cage debut and believes a showdown against Romero would make a “great fight” for the fans.

“Come on man, that guy is a beast and my age so that would be great,” Belfort told Low Kick MMA. “That would be a great fight too.”

Belfort, 43, has not competed since his knockout loss to Lyoto Machida back in early 2018. As for Romero, also 43, he’s looking to snap a three-fight losing streak, part of a dreadful 1-4 run over the last four years.

That said, he’s looked far more impressive — and far more durable — than “The Phenom” has in recent years, but it’s still an easy sell for an overseas promotion looking for recognizable names.
