Yoel Romero is now a Bellator MMA fighter.

Despite a lukewarm response to his free agency earlier this month, Scott Coker and Co. later agreed to terms with “Soldier of God,” who will abandon middleweight and make the permanent move to 205 pounds.

That’s according to ESPN.

Romero (13-5), who turns 44 in April, joins Anthony “Rumble” Johnson on the list of recent talent acquisitions and Twitter is already ablaze with the prospect of having Romero and Johnson face off in their respective debuts.

That said, there was a reason UFC said goodbye to the former Olympic wrestler. Romero recently lost three straight and four of his last five. His only two wins over the last five years have against shopworn ex-champs Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman.

Regardless, Romero still packs a wallop and has only been finished once in his career, a 2011 loss to Rafael Cavalcante — also under Scott Coker — back in the Strikeforce days.
