Heavyweight contender Marcin Tybura pushed his record to 4-0 this year after handing Greg Hardy his first knockout loss earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 19, 2020) at UFC Vegas 17 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tybura stopped the former NFL star via second-round TKO (punches).

Hardy looked like a man on a mission in Round 1 as he peppered Tybura with combinations galore. It looked like Hardy was finally putting it all together and he really pulled ahead in the fight. In Round 2, Hardy seemed to tire quite a bit, which allowed Tybura to move inside and score a powerful takedown along the cage. Tybura quickly worked his ground-and-pound, landed a bunch of strikes, and Hardy was forced to cover up as the referee saved him from further punishment.

With this performance, Tybura becomes the first fighter to stop Hardy via strikes. It wasn’t a pretty victory for Tybura but he did what he needed to do in a high-profile fight against a guy with a lot of hype. Ending 2020 with a 4-0 record should land the Polish contender in the top 15 when the rankings come out next week.
