LAS VEGAS – Marcin Tybura entered UFC Fight Night 183 knowing he’d have to avoid the power of former NFL standout Greg Hardy.
In a heavyweight fight on Saturday’s main card, Tybura (21-6 MMA, 8-5 UFC) won by TKO in Round 2 when he landed on top of Hardy (7-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and rained down ground-and-pound.
“I think he’s a guy who’s improving his skills all the time,” Tybura told MMA Junkie at the UFC Fight Night 183 post-fight news conference. “But, you know, the ground game is something you cannot learn in a year or two. Probably, he (focused) on his heavy punches and (did) not pay much attention to the ground. I saw that in this fight. Once I got to the top, I knew that was the end.”
With the win, Tybura moved to 4-0 in 2020. The stretch of success not only marks the best record of any UFC heavyweight in the calendar year, but also the current longest winning streak in the division. That’s far removed from the 0-2 he went in 2019.
“Last December, I was really, really upset after my performance in 2019. That was all changed this year. That was actually my first full year where I got four fights and four wins. There was lots of changing – (my) mindset, joining a new club in Poland. Everything is in the right place right now.”
UFC Fight Night 183 took place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The event streamed on ESPN+.
