Conor Spends Christmas Thinking About Khabib

Based on a series of tweets over Christmas Day, Conor McGregor’s mind is still on a potential rematch with ‘retired’ lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.

It’s been quite the Christmas for “The Notorious” as Conor McGregor spent the early part of the day sharing news that his fiancé is pregnant with their third child, and then the evening celebrating with family. He also found the time to get into a little Twitter spat with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, because why stick with Christmas cheer when you can jeer as well?

In a series of tweets that have since been deleted (preserved by MMA Junkie), McGregor started things up by tweeting “MeDanaAliGonnaGetcha,” which we figure implies he intends to be a part of the negotiations at the infamous meeting White is setting up with Khabib following UFC 257 (which McGregor is headlining vs. Dustin Poirier).

He followed that up by going deeper on Abdelaziz, declaring “Robert Earl Britton is The Man!” Robert Earl Britton is an alias that Abdelaziz used to use in his past, one that has not only earned him a guilty charge of criminal impersonation but is at the root of wild rumors and allegations the high profile MMA agent was a government informant with ties to 9/11.

McGregor finished things off by calling Khabib the duck, a play on his recent status as the GOAT. Abdelaziz brushed off the taunt, declaring Khabib the man, and then replying that McGregor would never be champion again because he’d never defeat the fighters on his deep roster of talent, including Justin Gaethje, Kamaru Usman, Gilbert Burns, Khamzat Chimaev, Islam Makhachev, Beneil Dariush, Belal Muhammad and Vicente Luque.

We imagine this is only the beginning of a new round of psychological warfare between McGregor and everyone around Khabib as he tries to land a rematch, or at the very least make Nurmagomedov look scared of the rematch. Not something we imagine will be very convincing to the folks reading this article, but there’s plenty of casual fans out there that take this kind of jockeying more seriously.

With Dana White continuing to insist Khabib is coming back, we imagine there’s no shortage of people still bugging “The Eagle” about McGregor, even though Khabib has made it clear: Horses don’t race with donkeys.
