Video: Why A.J. McKee’s future with Bellator could get murky

Bellator featherweight A.J. McKee is in the process of becoming a star – a “megastar” even, according to promotion president Scott Coker – and that could be problematic.

Undefeated McKee, who is 17-0 professionally all with Bellator, last week told MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn that he has just two fights left on his contract as he gets ready to compete in the featherweight grand prix final. With McKee flashing brilliance throughout his career and especially in the tournament, the 25-year-old naturally has to consider his future and one question: Could it be with the UFC? If he beats the winner of champion Patricio Freire and Emmanuel Sanchez to claim the title, that would tie McKee to a championship clause in his contract, which could make things interesting.

But still, should Bellator worry about McKee potentially wanting to and jumping ship to the UFC? What are the pros and cons? Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn, Farah Hannoun, and Brian “Goze” Garcia weighed in during this week’s episode.

You can watch in the video above.
