The upcoming UFC 259 pay-per-view event, which is set to go down on March 6, 2021, has been bolstered a bit more with the addition of the a Bantamweight title fight between division champion, Peter Yan, and top contender, Aljamain Sterling. That’s according to a report from MMA Junkie, which revealed that while the promotion has yet to make the bout official that is where they are leaning.

If it comes to pass, it will be the third title fight booked for the event, as it is set to feature a Light Heavyweight title fight between division champion, Jan Blachowicz, defending his belt against Middleweight kingpin, Israel Adesanya. Furthermore, Amanda Nunes will defend her Featherweight belt against Megan Anderson.

Yan and Sterling were originally set to face off at UFC 256 on Dec. 12 before visa issues forced Yan out of the bout. Winner of 10 in a row — seven inside the Octagon — Yan won the title by knocking out Jose Aldo at UFC 251 earlier this year.

Sterling, meanwhile, has won five in a row and seven of eight overall since 2017 to put him at the top of the division rankings. His lone loss during that span is a knockout loss to former division title contender, Marlon Moraes.
