Watch ‘Strabanimal’ Strangle Ellenor In Milan

Revisit the fight between ‘Strabanimal’ James Gallagher and Cal Ellenor from Milan, Italy.

Under ideal circumstances, “Strabanimal” James Gallagher would be headlining in Dublin, Ireland, on a Bellator MMA card. The SBG Ireland-trained submission specialist draws the fans in from his native Strabane and all throughout the Emerald Isle. Unfortunately for him, because of the global pandemic that wasn’t possible when Bellator European Series 9 took place.

The Allianz Cloud in Milan, Italy, became a “Fight Island” of sorts for Bellator, featuring multiple international events in a short timespan. That includes the card on Oct. 3, 2020, headlined by Gallagher facing Cal Ellenor, a fight that had been expected, but had fallen apart multiple times. “Strabanimal” brought in a 10-1 record while his English rival “Cal Pacino” came in 8-2.

As you might expect for Gallagher, the fight quickly went to the ground and the “human chess game” was underway. Ellenor survived better than most of Gallagher’s foes, but with 29 seconds left in round one, he submitted to the rear-naked choke.
