Brian Kelleher vs. Ricky Simon rebooked for UFC 258 on Feb. 13

Will the third time be the charm for Brian Kelleher and Ricky Simon?

After two previously scrapped scheduled bouts, Kelleher (22-11 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and Simon (17-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) are now scheduled to square off at UFC 258 on Feb. 13 in a featherweight bout.

A person with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking Friday but asked to remain anonymous, as the promotion has not yet made an official announcement. Bloody Canvas was first to report the news.

The fight between Kelleher and Simon was first booked for Sept. 5 but was scrapped the week prior when one of Simon’s cornermen tested positive for COVID-19.

The pair were then rebooked for UFC on ABC 1 on Jan. 16, but Kelleher was forced to withdraw due to a positive COVID-19 test. Instead, Simon drew newcomer Gaetano Pirrello, whom he submitted via second-round arm-triangle choke.

Winner of three of his past four, Kelleher is coming off a 39-second “Performance of the Night” submission of Ray Rodriguez in September. All but one of Kelleher’s six UFC wins have come via finish.

The latest UFC 258 lineup includes:

  • Champ Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns – for welterweight title
  • Pedro Munhoz vs. Jimmie Rivera
  • Uriah Hall vs. Chris Weidman
  • Ian Heinisch vs. Kelvin Gastelum
  • Maycee Barber vs. Alexa Grasso
  • Gabe Green vs. Phil Rowe
  • Dhiego Lima vs. Belal Muhammad
  • Miranda Maverick vs. Gillian Robertson
  • Anthony Hernandez vs. Rodolfo Vieira
  • Mallory Martin vs. Polyana Viana
  • Brian Kelleher vs. Ricky Simon
