COVID Boots Weidman From UFC 258

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight titleholder Chris Weidman recently tested positive for COVID-19 and has been removed from the upcoming UFC 258 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Feb. 13, 2021 at APEX in Las Vegas.

That’s according to ESPN.

The promotion is hoping to keep his Uriah Hall rematch intact and will likely move their 185-pound do-over to the UFC 261 card on April 24, potentially in Singapore; however, those plans have yet to be finalized and could change depending on Weidman’s recovery.

It’s been more than a decade since Weidman, now 36, finished “Prime Time” under the Ring of Combat banner back in Sept. 2010, in what marked just the third professional fight for the “All American.” These days, the longtime wrestler is just trying to stay employed.

Like Weidman, Hall worked his way into UFC and carved out a respectable career. In fact, the 36 year-old striker is now the winner of three straight with two of those bouts ending by way of knockout, including last October’s finish over Anderson Silva.

See you in April … hopefully.
