Ben Rothwell vs. Philipe Lins joins UFC Fight Night on March 13 event

PFL 2018 heavyweight champion Philipe Lins will be in search of his first octagon win when he faces a gritty veteran.

Lins (14-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) is expected to take on Ben Rothwell (38-13 MMA, 8-7 UFC) at a UFC Fight Night event on March 13, which does not currently have a confirmed venue or host city.

A person with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous, as the promotion has not yet made an official announcement. Combate was first to report the news.

Lins, 35, has dropped his first two UFC bouts, to former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and, most recently, Tanner Boser in June. Prior to that, the Brazilian went 4-0 under the PFL banner, winning the 2018 heavyweight championship with a fourth-round stoppage of Josh Copeland.

Meanwhile, after picking up a December 2019 TKO of Stefan Struve and edging out Ovince Saint Preux this past May, Rothwell saw his two-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night 179 in October.

With the addition to the card, the current lineup for UFC Fight Night on March 13 includes:

  • Leon Edwards vs. Khamzat Chimaev
  • Davey Grant vs. Jonathan Martinez
  • Matthew Semelsberger vs. Jason Witt
  • Jinh Yu Frey vs. Gloria de Paula

  • Eryk Anders vs. Darren Stewart
  • Guram Kutateladze vs. Don Madge
