Askren Shreds Heavy Bag With Blistering Speed

Speed kills.

Former UFC welterweight Ben Askren, who also competed for Bellator MMA and ONE Championship, is coming out of retirement to box YouTube sensation Jake Paul, because promoters believe fans, curious onlookers, or lowly media members like myself will pay for that sort of thing.

I guess we’ll find out April 17 when those two lace ‘em up.

To prepare for his debut in the “Sweet Science,” Askren has been pounding away on a special heavy bag that looks like Paul. And if you thought these were the fastest hands you’ve seen over the last few years, strap in and watch “Funky” unleash hell.

Looks like those “Showtime” lessons are starting to pay off.

I haven’t seen a heavy bag take that kind of damage since 170-pound sensation Khamzat Chimaev beat the stuffing out his inanimate training partner last weekend, which has me wondering aloud what happened to the good old days of training like this.
