DWCS standout Luis Saldana targeted to make UFC debut vs. Jordan Griffin on April 10

Dana White’s Contender Series standout Luis Saldana has his first UFC assignment.

The promotion is currently targeting a fight between Saldana (14-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Jordan Griffin for the UFC Fight Night event on April 10, which takes place at an unannounced location and venue.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the targeted booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA DNA was first to report the news.

Saldana earned his UFC contract with a vicious knockout of Team Alpha Male’s Vince Murdock on DWCS last November. Following two consecutive front kicks to the face, Saldana finished Murdock with punches in Round 3. The victory was Saldana’s fourth straight.

Like Saldana, Griffin (18-8 MMA, 1-3 UFC) earned his UFC contract following a finish on DWCS, only his came in 2018. Griffin has endured an up-and-down UFC tenure thus far, picking up a win against TJ Brown and suffering losses to Dan Ige, Chas Skelly, and Youssef Zalal.

With the addition, the April 10 lineup includes:

  • Darren Till vs. Marvin Vettori
  • Nina Ansaroff vs. Mackenzie Dern
  • Jarjis Danho vs. Yorgan De Castro
  • Ignacio Bahamondes vs. John Makdessi
  • Norma Dumont vs. Bea Malecki
  • Sam Alvey vs. Zak Cummings
  • Jordan Griffin vs. Luis Saldana
