Shamil Musaev, Uros Jurisic issued hefty fines for post-fight brawl at KSW 58

Shamil Musaev and Uros Jurisic have been issued fines by the KSW brass for the collective roles they played in the melee that occurred after their fight on Jan. 30.

Following a solid and competitive three-round fight on the main card of KSW 58, Musaev (14-0) was declared the winner by unanimous decision to remain undefeated against Jurisic (11-1), who was handed his first professional loss.

Jurisic’s team showed some displeasure with the decision in the immediate aftermath, but just when it seemed cooler heads were about to prevail, Jurisic shoved his hands into the face of Musaev’s coach.

That prompted a reaction from Musaev, who went over over to Jurisic, said something, wrapped him up in a body lock and slammed him to the mat before unleashing a flurry of punches before security and team members could break them up.

After reviewing the tape of the incident from all possible angles, the KSW brass agreed Jurisic’s physicality with the coach was unwarranted, but Musaev’s slam was a clear escalator.

As a result, Musaev has been fined 50 percent of his purse, and his cornerman, KSW middleweight Abus Magomedo, has been “banned from fighting for six months and banned from cornering for 12 months,” per a statement from the promotion.

Jurisic, for his part, has been fined 30 percent of his fight purse for his role.

In addition, both men have had their “Fight of the Night” bonuses withheld by the organization.

And finally, according to the statement, “all the unauthorized persons, who entered the cage after the fight was over, are banned from taking part in the KSW events as members of fighters’ teams.”

KSW will not keep the money redeemed from the various fines to Musaev or Jurisic. Instead, it will be donated to the crowdfunding pages for a pair of sick young girls – Laura Paczuła and Pola Omielańczuk – the latter of which is the daughter of Polish MMA veteran Daniel Omielańczuk.

The statement from KSW ensured to note that the promotion “would like to emphasize that unsportsmanlike behavior and violations of the federation’s rules by the fighters or members of their teams is completely unacceptable.”
