Former Bellator 145-pound champion Daniel Straus was arrested last Friday in Hollywood, Fla., and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The 36 year-old featherweight allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and stabbed her in the stomach.

That’s according to a police affidavit obtained by MMA Junkie.

The incident allegedly occurred back on Jan. 21 and started with an argument over text message. The situation escalated from there and Straus reportedly got physical with his former partner at her place of employment, then again inside his residence.

Watch Straus appear before the judge at 1:42:25 in the video above.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and received stitches for her puncture wound, as well as “a large contusion” to her right eye. Straus, who has not competed since losing to Derek Campos at Bellator 226 in Sept. 2019, remains in custody on a $100,000 bond.

Expect more updates to this still-developing story in the coming weeks.
