UFC Vegas 18 injuries and medical suspensions were submitted to MixedMartialArts.com earlier this week for those athletes competing at the “Overeem vs. Volkov” event last weekend (Sat., Feb. 6, 2020) from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

Not surprisingly, a fair share of combatants were handed mandatory timeouts, including heavyweight headliner Alistair Overeem. “Demolition Man” could be looking at a potential six-month suspension for injuries suffered to his nasal bone.

The full list of UFC Vegas 18 medical suspensions (courtesy of MMA Junkie) includes:

Alistair Overeem: Suspended 180 days or until nasal bone fracture is cleared by ENT; also suspended 60 days with no contact for 45 days.
Frankie Edgar: Suspended 60 days with 45 days no contact.
Michael Johnson: Suspended 21 days with 14 days no contact.
Clay Guida: Needs forehead laceration cleared by doctor, otherwise suspended 30 days; minimum suspension is 21 days.
Alexandre Pantoja: Needs X-ray of both hands, and clearance by doctor, otherwise suspended 180 days; minimum suspension is 30 days with 21 days no contact.
Manel Kape: Needs doctor clearance of right thumb swelling, otherwise suspended 180 days.
Diego Ferreira: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact.
Beneil Dariush: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact due to left eye laceration.

Justin Jaynes: Suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact due to left eye swelling.
Karol Rosa: Needs X-ray of left hand, doctor clearance, otherwise suspended 180 days; minimum suspension is 30 days with 21 days no contact.
Joselyne Edwards: Needs doctor clearance for left shoulder sprain, otherwise suspended 180 days.
Seungwoo Choi: Suspended 21 days with 14 days no contact.
Timur Valiev: Suspended 21 days with 14 days no contact.
Jerome Rivera: Suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact.

The following fighters escaped UFC Vegas 18 without suspension:

Alexander Volkov
Cory Sandhagen
Danilo Marques
Molly McCann
Lara Procopio
Martin Day
Ode Osbourne
Youssef Zalal

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
