Amanda Ribas wants to reschedule ‘very cool’ fight with Michelle Waterson

After a fight between them fell apart in late 2020, Amanda Ribas is targeting a clash with Michelle Waterson next.

Ribas (10-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Waterson (18-8 MMA, 6-4 UFC) were originally booked to fight at UFC 257 in January, but it fell apart when “The Karate Hottie” was forced to withdraw from the strawweight bout. Ribas then got a replacement opponent and suffered a second-round TKO loss to Marina Rodriguez.

With hopes of getting back on track after her first octagon defeat, Ribas still has interest in facing the former Invicta FC champion and made it known with a social media callout on Friday (via Twitter):

Heyy @karatehottiemma!
What do you think of making our fight happen ?!
I think it would be very cool
let’s go do this

Waterson, No. 13 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie women’s strawweight rankings, hasn’t competed since this past September, when she earned a split decision win over Angela Hill in the UFC Fight Night 177 main event.

She could have the opportunity to build momentum against the No. 10-ranked Ribas, who would look to avoid dropping consecutive fights.
