UFC 259 medical suspensions: Israel Adesanya, Megan Anderson among four facing lengthy layoffs

It could be a while until Israel Adesanya is able to defend his UFC middleweight title again.

Adesanya (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) fell short in his pursuit of “champ champ” status when he lost a unanimous decision to light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz in the main event of UFC 259 in Las Vegas. “The Last Stylebender” will need doctor clearance for his left foot and ankle or he could be looking at up to six months on the sidelines.

Joining Adesanya with potential 180-day terms is co-headliner Megan Anderson, who was submitted by featherweight champion Amanda Nunes in the first round. Anderson (11-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) must have an MRI on her right elbow and an X-ray on her nose.

MMA Junkie on Tuesday obtained the full list of suspensions from MixedMartialArts.com, the Association of Boxing Commissions’ official record keeper.
