Carvalho vs Weichel targeted for Bellator 257

An intriguing Featherweight fight is being targeted to go down at the upcoming Bellator 257 event on April 16 with a report from MMA Fighting stating that Pedro Carvalho has agreed to face Daniel Weichel. The bout has yet to be formally made official, though both sides have agreed to the bout.

Carvalho is looking to bounce back after suffering first round knockout defeat at the hands of current Bellator MMA “champ-champ,” Patricio Freire at Bellator 252 in Nov. 2020. The loss snapped his six fight win streak.

Weichel, meanwhile, is also looking to get back on the winner’s podium after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Emmanuel Sanchez, also at Bellator 252. The loss was his third in previous for tries inside the Bellator cage, so he is in desperate need of a victory here to avoid digging himself a deeper hole

Bellator 257 — which will air exclusively on Showtime — will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight title fight between division champion, Vadim Nemkov, taking on Phil Davis as part of the opening round of the promotion’s Grand Prix.

Also, Anthony Johnson and Yoel Romero will collide in another first round match up, More recently, Paul Daley was booked to face Sabah Homasi at this event.
