UFC free fight: Alexander Volkanovski shuts down Chad Mendes in Mendes’ final fight

Alexander Volkanovski remains the last person to have fought former multiple time UFC title challenger Chad Mendes.

The current UFC featherweight champion gave Mendes a loss in his last fight in December 2018 at UFC 232. After a competitive back-and-forth 10 minutes, Volkanovski (22-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) overwhelmed Mendes in the third round and for a TKO win. It was Volkanovski’s 11th career stoppage win and also the most recent time he finished an opponent.

Now, more than two years later, Volkanovski is gearing up to defend his UFC 145-pound title for a second time in his career. The Australian takes on Brian Ortega in the co-main event slot of UFC 260 on March 27. Volkanovski is coming off a split decision win over Max Holloway at UFC 251 in July 2020.

Ahead of that title fight, check out Volkanovski’s win over Mendes in the video above.
