Miguel Baeza vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio booked for June 5 UFC event

Unbeaten prospect Miguel Baeza has his first fight of 2021 booked.

The UFC welterweight takes on veteran Santiago Ponzinibbio at a UFC event on June 5. MMA Junkie confirmed the news with two people with knowledge of the booking following a report by Combate. The people requested anonymity because UFC officials have yet to make a formal announcement.

Baeza (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) last fought in November, defeating Takashi Sato with an arm-triangle choke in the second round of their clash at UFC on ESPN 18. The win continued an impressive run for Baeza under the UFC banner, as he had stopped Hector Aldana and Matt Brown in previous outings. The 28-year-old fights out of MMA Masters in South Florida.

Also fighting of South Florida, American Top Team’s Ponzinibbio (27-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC) is looking to bounce back from a KO loss to Li Jingliang in January. The defeat snapped a seven-fight winning streak for the Argentine.
