Huerta No Longer With Bellator MMA

Bellator

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) isn’t the only mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion making cuts to its roster — Bellator MMA has also recently parted ways with several fighters.

Among them is Roger Huerta, the former Sport’s Illustrated cover boy who suffered a third round technical knockout loss to Christopher Gonzalez at Bellator 255 earlier this month. The loss was “El Matador’s” fourth in a row, bringing his record to 1-6 with the Viacom-owned mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.

Also, longtime Featherweight Brandon Girtz is no longer with the company after an eight-year stint that saw him go 8-8. He is 2-6 in his last eight fights and is currently on a two fight losing streak. He was last seen losing to Henry Corrales via split decision at Bellator 250 in October 2020.

Call Ellenor, Arbi Medhidov, Frans Mlambo, Paul Redmond, Ryan Roddy, Rishis Smullen, and Gabriel Varga were also a part of the cuts according to a report from MMA Junkie.

Bellator will return on May 7 with a stacked Bellator 258: “Archuleta vs Pettis” event, which features a Bantamweight title fight between division champion Juan Archuleta and Sergio Pettis. In the co-main event, Yoel Romero and Anthony Johnson tango in the final opening round matchup of the promotion’s Light Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Also, Valerie Loureda returns to face Hannah Guy while Michael Page takes on Derek Anderson in a pivotal Welterweight bout.
