UFC on ESPN 22 medical suspensions: Three fighters face potential six-month suspensions

Three fighters out of the 20 who competed at UFC on ESPN 22 could be facing six-month suspensions.

On Tuesday, MMA Junkie obtained the full list of medical suspensions from MixedMartialArts.com for UFC on ESPN 22, which took place this past Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Fighters can return to action sooner than their suspensions indicate should they receive medical clearance from a doctor.

Heavyweights Chase Sherman[/autotag] and Juan Espino[/autotag] and featherweight Luis Pena[/autotag] are the three competitors potentially facing six-month suspensions. Sherman requires clearance by the doctor for his left knee, right foot and right tibia/fibia. Espino needs clearance for his right elbow and Pena for his left hand.

Headliners Robert Whittaker[/autotag] and Kelvin Gastelum[/autotag] were both suspended for 30 days with 21 days of no contact. Whittaker was suspended for a “hard fight” and Gastelum for a laceration on his right eyelid.
