At Bellator 258, Omar Hussein ready to show ‘Palestine produces some of the toughest fighters’

When Omar Hussein found out that Logan Storley needed an opponent, he jumped right at the opportunity.

Hussein (8-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) will make his promotional debut when he steps in to face Storley at Bellator 258, which takes place May 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena. The main card airs on Showtime after prelims on MMA Junkie.

Born in Hebron, Palestine, Hussein has bounced around numerous high-level gyms throughout his MMA career. He spent a significant amount of time training at Team Alpha Male, where he competed for various different organizations in California, before signing with Middle East-based UAE Warriors. He’s won four of his past five, which led to the short-notice Bellator opportunity, and Hussein can’t wait to represent his country on the big stage.

“I started my MMA journey in Puerto Rico, then moved to California where I spent around five years training at Team Alpha Male,” Hussein told MMA Junkie. “Then I’ve done some camps back close to home in Jordan with coach Ashraf Al Shishani, as well as Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand, Xtreme Couture and Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas.

He continued, “It means the world to me to carry my flag into the Bellator cage and show the world that Palestine produces some of the toughest fighters the world has seen.”

He will face a stern test in fifth-ranked welterweight Storley (11-1 MMA, 6-1 BMMA), who’s a four-time NCAA Division I All-American. But Hussein is looking forward to the test and stepping up in the biggest opportunity of his career.

“I believe that taking on challenges helps me grow as a fighter and in life in general,” Hussein said. “Fights like this light a fire inside, and May 7 I will bring the best version of myself.”
