Colbey Northcutt has goals of becoming first ONE women’s flyweight champion

Colbey Northcutt wants to make history with ONE Championship.

Northcutt (1-1) may be only two pro fights into her career, but she already has aspirations of helping ONE build their women’s flyweight division. ONE Championship doesn’t currently have a flyweight champion, and Northcutt is aiming to become the promotion’s inaugural titleholder.

But first, she faces Courtney Martin at ONE on TNT IV on April 28 at Singapore Indoor Stadium, where she’ll look to kickstart a run for the title.

“ONE is building their flyweight division,” Northcutt told MMA Junkie. “They don’t currently have a women’s flyweight MMA world champion. They’re growing it, and they’re expanding in all aspects obviously as a promotion, so if you want to talk about goals, that’s my goal: to help grow the division and to be the first women’s ONE flyweight world champion.”

Colbey, who’s Sage Northcutt’s older sister, looks at siblings Angela and Christian Lee as an example. Both Angela and Christian are current ONE title holders in their respective divisions and Northcutt, hopes she and Sage can follow suit.

“Angela and Christian are a pair of siblings that I really admire and look up to,” Northcutt said. “They’re doing right now what Sage and I aspire to do, and that’s both of them at the same time be the champs in the organization. First brother-sister to ever do that. That’s the goal for Sage and I, as well.

“It’s always been really awesome to have a brother that fights, that grew up doing everything with me, and we’re in the same organization now,” Northcutt said. “But absolutely, … they’re two incredible martial artists that are extremely respectful and people that I look up to personally, and I know that Sage does, as well.”

ONE on TNT IV airs in the U.S. on in primetime on TNT.
