Watch UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou get swarmed by fans in return to Cameroon

It was pandemonium in Cameroon as UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou paraded the streets with his title.

Fresh off of cornering welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in his successful title defense against Jorge Masvidal this past weekend at UFC 261, Ngannou (16-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) returned home for the first time since capturing the heavyweight title with a second-round knockout of Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 in March.

In a video courtesy of Africa News, Ngannou is seen escorted by security and police in the city of Douala, as fans chased him down in support. Ngannou’s story is well-documented. The 34-year-old has had one of the most tumultuous and inspiring roads to the octagon, where he was jailed for illegally crossing the Morocco-Spain border by sea and left homeless for a while upon arriving in Paris to commence his mixed martial arts dream.

Ngannou’s next fight has not been officially determined. All signs pointed to him having a superfight with Jon Jones in his first defense, but with negotiations between “Bones” and the UFC brass seemingly stalled, it appears a rematch between Ngannou and Derrick Lewis will serve as the next heavyweight title bout.
