Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul set for June 6 in Miami

(Editor’s note: This story originally published at Boxing Junkie, part of the USA TODAY Network.)

Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul is set – again.

The retired boxer and YouTube personality will exchange punches on Sunday, June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Showtime pay-per-view and Fanmio, it was announced Tuesday.

Mayweather confirmed the news on Instagram. He wrote: “Logan Paul and I are going to fight at Hard Rock Stadium. Mayweather Promotions, Fanmio and Showtime will team up to give you an epic event.”

No other details were included in the announcement.

Mayweather and Paul, the brother of Jake Paul, originally were scheduled to take part in an exhibition on February 20, but the event was postponed indefinitely for unspecified reasons.

The announcement on Tuesday didn’t indicate whether the fight would be an exhibition or a sanctioned bout, although it presumably will be an unofficial exhibition.

Mayweather reportedly has agreed to weigh no more than 160 pounds, Paul 190 pounds.

A recent report indicating the Mayweather-Paul fight would take place on June 5 — in direct competition with the Teofimo Lopez-George Kambosos pay-per-view event — was inaccurate, according to Stephen Espinoza, president of Showtime Sports.

Sports Illustrated reported that Badou Jack will face Jean Pascal in a 12-round light heavyweight fight on the undercard.

Mayweather, 44, was last in the ring in December 2018, when he stopped Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition. His last sanctioned bout was his 10th-round knockout of Conor McGregor, who was making his boxing debut.

Paul (0-1) lost a decision to fellow YouTube star KSI in his only sanctioned boxing match, in 2019.
