Bellator Doesn’t Want ‘Nightmare’ Scenario

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Diego Sanchez may have trouble finding a place to continue his mixed martial arts (MMA) career after getting released by Dana White and Co. a few weeks back, thanks in part to his age, his deterioration as a fighter, and of course, his personal baggage.

Or “parasite,” depending on who you ask.

Bellator MMA President Scott Coker recently told MMA Fighting that he wouldn’t be adding Sanchez to his current 170-pound lineup. Keep in mind this is the same promoter who signed DaDa 5000, so that should tell you how badly Coker and Co. want to steer clear of “The Nightmare’s” backstage drama.

And pending death certificate.

Sanchez, who turns 40 in December, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jake Matthews at UFC 253 back in Sept. 2020. The original “Ultimate Fighter” is unlikely to end up in PFL or ONE Championship — for the same reasons Bellator MMA passed — but don’t be surprised to see Sanchez resurface on one of the Paul Bros. pay-per-view (PPV) cards in the very near future.
