Patricky Freire happy Peter Queally fight got rebooked so he can shut him up: ‘He talks too much’

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Patricky Freire is excited to finally put his rivalry with Peter Queally to rest.

After their original October booking fell through, the pair have been rescheduled for Friday’s Bellator 258 card at Mohegan Sun Arena. The main card airs on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie.

Though Queally (12-5-1 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) thinks their rivalry fizzled out with the time lost since their initial pairing, Freire (23-9 MMA, 14-7 BMMA) thinks otherwise and the Brazilian can’t wait to silence his SBG Ireland rival.

“I’m very happy,” Freire told MMA Junkie on Wednesday. “I like this fight, I like this opportunity to do this fight because he talks too much, and the media comes and asks him very bad things, very weird questions, so I love it. I love a fight when one guy talks too much. I love to close their mouths with my punch. I love this job.”

He continued, “It’s a fun fight. I love this fight because he talks too much. I’ve been here for a long time. I’ve trained hard for a long time. I know the reality: This guy has just 15 fights, so he needs to train more.”

Freire is currently sitting at the No. 2 spot in Bellator’s lightweight rankings and with a win over Queally, he thinks a fight with No. 1 ranked Brent Primus, makes sense for him next.

“I think I’m the No. 1 because I have the most victories in this division, but Brent Primus has a big name – he’s the former champion, he’s a nice guy,” Freire said. “I was supposed to fight Brent once and it fell through, so now I think it’s possible, obviously with me winning this fight and going forward.”
