UFC free fight: Rob Font takes out Marlon Moraes in Round 1

Rob Font has some of the best hands at 135 pounds.

Font returned from a year-long layoff to face former title challenger Marlon Moraes at UFC Fight Night 183 in December, his biggest opportunity to date.

Moraes exploded right off the bat with a couple of kicks to the body before taking a lunging Font down. He locked in a guillotine as Font was trying to reverse position, but Font was able to break free. However, Moraes kept a hold of Font, picking him up and dumping him on the ground once again.

After over a minute of ground control for Moraes, Font got back to his feet and immediately made Moraes pay. He stuck out his sniping jab a few times, before connecting with a three-strike combination that cracked Moraes. He followed that up with a beautiful uppercut which spelt the beginning of the end for the Brazilian.

Font (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) returns to action Saturday when he takes on former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 188, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

Before he faces Garbrandt in his first octagon headliner, relive Font’s finish of Moraes in the video above.
