Jake Paul Signs With Showtime Sports

I have bad news for all the boxing purists who thought Jake Paul was just another flash in the pan.

The controversial social media star, now 3-0 as a professional boxer, is parting ways with Triller in favor of a multi-fight deal with Showtime Sports. His next opponent, as well as a date and venue for his return to the “sweet science,” are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

“Jake is proud of the events he participated in with Triller and appreciates the opportunities they afforded him,” adviser Nakisa Bidarian confirmed to ESPN. “Jake is excited to continue his boxing career with Showtime Boxing. Fight announcement coming soon.”

Paul continued his boxing career with a first-round knockout win over retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren at the Triller Fight Club pay-per-view (PPV) last month in Atlanta, Georgia, and will return to the ring to corner brother Logan Paul for his Floyd Mayweather fight on June 6 in Miami, Florida.

“We love Jake,” Proxima Media CEO Kavanaugh told ESPN. “I wish Jake the absolute best. We had our two fights with him. … I think for us, we’ve gone the distance with him that we can go. We won’t be doing any more Jake fights.”

Paul is valued less for his boxing skills and more for his ability to generate hype, which promoters can monetize at the box office (just ask this boxing legend). Even seasoned UFC fighters can’t seem to stop talking about the 24 year-old headliner.

“In the media business they say content is king… and in the fight business, fighters are the content… so WE are the kings,” Paul wrote on Twitter. “Make sure you are getting paid like a king!”
