UFC 262 ‘Fight Motion’: Charles Oliveira stops Michael Chandler to win vacant lightweight title

Charles Oliveira finally realized his dream of becoming a UFC champion, but it didn’t come without adversity.

Oliveira (31-8 MMA, 19-8 UFC) claimed the vacant lightweight title at UFC 262, when he rallied to stop Michael Chandler (22-6 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in the opening seconds of Round 2.

It was a back-and-forth round where Chandler looked to be in trouble early, when the UFC’s all-time leader in submission wins took his back. But Chandler exploded out and put the pressure on Oliveira, eventually dropping him at the end of the first frame. Chandler swarmed him, but Oliveira managed to survive.

With his confidence riding high going into Round 2, Chandler would have never expected what was coming. Just a few ticks into the second frame, Oliveira clipped Chandler with a counter left hook, finishing him 19 seconds into the round with precise follow-up shots on the ground.

You can watch it all unfold in super slow-motion in the UFC 262 “Fight Motion” video highlights above.
