LAS VEGAS – Josh Culibao was victorious Saturday at UFC Fight Night 188, defeating Shayilan Nuerdanbieke by unanimous decision.
For Culibao (9-1-1 MMA, 1-1-1 UFC), his first UFC victory meant a lot after starting out his promotional tenure last year with a loss and draw.
“I never really felt like I was a UFC fighter until I did get that W. Now I’ve got that W, and I feel like I belong here now,” Culibao said in his post-fight news conference. “To me, I was just a participant in those fights. I didn’t feel like a proper UFC fighter. So now to be able to get that W, it’s huge to me.”
Culibao also discussed why he put his girlfriend on blast with an “I told you so,” executing his game plan, and more.
