After UFC Fight Night 188 win, Bruno Silva eyes matchup with fellow Brazilian Rogerio Bontorin

LAS VEGAS – Looking to hit the flyweight rankings, Bruno Silva wants to take on a fellow Brazilian next.

Silva (12-5-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) picked up his second-straight knockout win when he dispatched Victor Rodriguez in just 60 seconds at UFC Fight Night 188 on Saturday.

Following the win, Silva called out Rogerio Bontorin (17-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC), who recently snapped his losing skid with an impressive win over Matt Schnell.

“All of them,” Silva told MMA Junkie following his win at the UFC Apex. “Bring it on, but I got a couple of guys like Bontorin. I want to fight that guy. He’s a Brazilian, not the other guys too, but it doesn’t matter.”

Having fought twice in the span of two months, Silva wants to take a bit of time off. The 31-year-old hopes to keep the ball rolling with more statement wins as he aims to hit the UFC’s flyweight rankings by the end of 2021.

“It’s good to keep fighting, just keeping the momentum and keep improving,” Silva said. “For sure I want to fight pretty soon, but just a little more time to recover my body. The weight cut is pretty hard so I want a little more time this time.”

He continued, “I want to fight a couple more times and keep knocking everyone out. That’s my goal. Growing and maybe staying in the top five by the end of this year.”
