Video: Will Cris Cyborg ever overtake Amanda Nunes as the women’s GOAT?

Cris Cyborg kept her Bellator dominance rolling this past Friday with another successful title defense.

Cyborg nearly had to go the distance against Leslie Smith at Bellator 259, but picked up a TKO with just nine seconds left in the fight. Cyborg won the women’s featherweight title in her Bellator debut in January 2020, defended it against Arlene Blencowe this past October, then beat Smith.

Cyborg now has won four straight since she lost the UFC women’s featherweight title to Amanda Nunes in December 2019. That made Nunes a dual champion at both bantamweight and featherweight – and made her the consensus pound-for-pound No. 1 in women’s MMA.

That win and Nunes’ dominance since then also has given her the unofficial title as greatest women’s fighter in history – though that’s always a subject that can be up for debate.

So with Cyborg in Bellator and rolling, and Nunes in the UFC and rolling, and the likelihood they’ll not fight again, will Cyborg ever be able to make a case as the women’s GOAT? That’s the question “Spinning Back Clique” host John Morgan asked this week’s panel of Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn and Danny Segura.

You can watch their discussion in the video above. Then don’t miss this week’s full episode below.
