Lerone Murphy vs. Charles Jourdain added to UFC Fight Night on Aug. 14

A battle between featherweight prospects is headed to UFC Fight Night on Aug. 14.

Lerone Murphy (10-0-1 MMA, 2-0-1 UFC) will face Charles Jourdain (11-3-1 MMA, 2-2-1 UFC) at an event that does not yet have an announced location or venue.

A person with knowledge of the booking recently informed MMA Junkie of the matchup, but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Radio Guerriers was the first to report the booking.

England’s Murphy is unbeaten in his pro MMA career. After battling to a majority draw against Zubaira Tukhugov in his promotional debut at UFC 242, Murphy scored a first-round “Performance of the Night” finish of Ricardo Ramos, followed by a unanimous decision over Douglas Silva de Andrade at UFC on ESPN 20 in January.

Jourdain, a former two-weight TKO champion, will look to string together his first winning streak in the UFC. He’s had a few frustrating results ever since scoring a marquee finish of Doo Ho Choi, getting edged out by Andre Fili and battling to a split draw with Josh Culibao. But in his most recent outing, the 25-year-old Canadian, who has a 100 percent finish rate, was able to put newcomer Marcelo Rojo away in the first round at UFC Fight Night 187 in March.

With the addition, the UFC’s Aug. 14 lineup now includes:

  • Derek Brunson vs. Darren Till
  • Ji Yeon Kim vs. Molly McCann
  • Charles Jourdain vs. Lerone Murphy
