When former UFC champ Conor McGregor started dropping “racist” remarks during his Floyd Mayweather press conference back in 2017 — before casually walking them back under the guise of humor — there was concern that “Money” might blow his stack.

Nope.

But when it came to Jake Paul stealing his cap during last month’s press conference in Miami; well, that’s where “Money” draws the line. In fact, Showtime Sports head “weasel” Stephen Espinoza claims the Gotcha Hat! stunt returned an entirely new level of anger.

“I have never seen [Mayweather] that angry,” Espinoza told UK’s Express. “Not even in the McGregor press tour, when it was very personal. It was not arranged or pre-planned by Floyd or his team. I think Jake very much had it pre-planned and capitalized in his own unique way. From the tattoo to the merchandise, to everything he made out of it. Floyd felt disrespected. He was very angry. He’s not that good an actor, to be quite honest, to show that level of wrath on command for something he wasn’t really angry about, so very much so, it angered him.”

Mayweather was supposed to be promoting his pay-per-view (PPV) exhibition bout against Logan Paul, set for June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in “The Sunshine State,” but it was brother Jake who stole the show with his premeditated hat grab and subsequent brawl.

McGregor called the headline-grabbing melee “embarrassing.”

Mayweather will have eight rounds to exact revenge against Paul for his brother’s insolence, assuming Logan does not use his significant size advantage to pull off what would undoubtedly be one of the biggest upsets in the history of the “sweet science.”
